Haven Workshop for Interior Designers

I recently attended The Haven workshop up here in Sonoma and had such an amazing time, I wanted to share it with my design community. Opportunities like this are so important because as one who has been in business for 10 + years now, I realize we didn't have workshops like this when I started out. You would work for successful designers, learn about design from the talent at the top, and often hop out on your own after a few years.

No one taught you about business and contracts and processes.

Having this resource now is so invaluable. Our industry has changed monumentally since I started in 2012 and being able to connect with other designers, business owners, photographers, etc... was so fun, Some are local, some live far away. Having those conversations and the advice was more than I could have hoped for. I re-read my notes from the workshop over and over again find it to be so helpful!

Here are some of the photos from the event provided by The Haven Tream taken by photographer Stephanie Russo (thank you!), and a few of my takeaways…

The best part for me was reconnecting with my design community. I didn’t realize how much I had missed that, and how much I needed it. It fed my soul and resparked my creative juices!

Wonderful sessions with experts in their fields. Some highlights for me:

From Al Faulkner:
What is your how and how does that set you apart?

From Renee Bush:
While working with clients, be sure to develop those ‘pinch me moments.’ You want to SELL THE ISLAND… not the trip!
”Who wants to think about the hassle of the airport, the flight the luggage? They just want to think about the white sand beach. Our service takes away the burden of the 'trips' so you can just enjoy your vacation. The vacation = is their beautiful home.”

All of the settings for our gatherings were so thoughtfully curated and made for delightful conversations!

What an amazing few days with these inspiring creative women innovators! Thank you ladies and The Haven List!

Psst…The Haven List is doing another event in Carmel By the Sea in April. Get on the List!
