High Point Market: Recap, Trends & Faves

It had been two years since we were able to travel to the Coachella-for-designers, the SWSX-for-interiors… the one and only High Point Market. You may have seen tidbits and mentions here and there on your favorite designer social feeds and perhaps didn't quite get the hype of High Point. It’s actually a big town, and once a year vendors from all over the country and world come to showcase their goods for designers to peruse, pick at, plop on, touch, feel, and ponder.

A DESIGNER’S MECCA

West Coasters in particular don’t tend to be as familiar with #HPMKT as it’s located on the other side of the country in High Point, NC — “the home furnishings capital of the world”. It’s a big investment of time and energy for us to trek over there but it ends up being an indispensable experience because they carry lines that many of our West Coast vendors do not showcase. It is essential for us to see the products we sell our clients in person to check quality and finishes, and most importantly… the infamous SIT TEST! If our clients can’t see and experience the pieces for themselves, how can they know if a dining chair is comfortable enough for a dinner party with best friends, good food, wine and amazing conversation? Hence, we make the trek to High Point to make our short lists.

We visited three dozen vendors in six days (phew!). Here are our takeaways, the trends we saw, and some of our favorite pieces…

TRENDS

One delightful trend we can’t get enough of are all the designer collabs happening. We can’t wait to get our hands on Lauren Liess for Woodbridge, Jeffrey Alan Marks for Palacek, Marie Flanigan for Visual Comfort, Jay Jeffers for Arteriors, and Josh Greene for Dowell. We love to see it!
