How to Style: Small Art Pieces

Have a small art piece and don’t know quite how to style it? From bedrooms to living rooms and even kitchens, here are ideas to help you find the best place for it and make it look like it was done by a pro.

Warm up a kitchen

One of our favorite designer-y ricks is to incorporate an art piece on a kitchen countertop or shelf, mixed in with other typical kitchen accessories. It instantly warms up the surrounding hard surfaces. Try pairing it with a table lamp (below) for an even more homey feeling.

Layer two mismatched pieces

A go-to solution for two mismatched pieces is layering a larger one behind a smaller one. Tie them in together with similar frames. Either lean them together or hang one on a wall and lean the smaller piece in front.

Incorporate a piece or two on shelves

We love a good shelfie! Try pairing your print with a small stack of books on a shelf, or layer with small objects.

Double or triple hang them

Vertically stack two small prints on a narrow wall, or horizontally hang above a wide piece of furniture like a headboard or sofa. Similar or matching frames help to tie the pieces together to create a collection.

Lean against a large mirror

Atop a console or a dresser, a small art piece can find its home leaning against a hanging mirror. A lovely addition for an entry or bedroom.

What to do with a one-off print?

Make a statement with a single piece at the end of a hallway, or try something unexpected by not pairing it on one side of a large central piece of furniture.
